Rep. Geraldo Alicea Announces Municipal Sustainability Grants To Local Communities 

Representative Geraldo Alicea (D-Charlton) today announced that grants totaling $4,150 has been awarded to the towns of East Brookfield ($275), Southbridge ($1,451), and Charlton ($2,429) by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). This support provides each town with grant money for conservation education, air and water quality protection, as well as climate protection initiatives. 

“This funding allows the towns of East Brookfield, Southbridge and Charlton to expand their environmental conservation programs to further benefit our area and all of us who call it home.” said Representative Alicea. 

Since 1990, MassDEP has awarded over $42 million in grants to local cities and towns to build stronger recycling, composting, and household hazardous waste programs.
