Representative Geraldo Alicea (D-Charlton) recently announced and attended a home weatherization in Spencer with Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Ian Bowles. The weatherization was sponsored by Energy Bucks, a collaboration between Massachusetts utilities and community action programs that helps residents statewide save on their energy costs through fuel assistance, utility discount rates and energy efficiency services.

“The continued rise in home heating oil this year makes it difficult for many families to meet their own needs. Public and private partnerships like the Energy Bucks are important to help bridge that gap,” said Alicea. “I was honored to be a part of such an important event, and to have Secretary Bowles attend.” 

The weatherization took place at the home of Donna and Michael Nairn. The Nairn’s are working parents with four children who are currently on fuel assistance will now be living in a more energy efficient home as winter sets in. The weatherization, orchestrated by the Worcester Community Action Council, will help the family save energy costs and draws attention to an important course of action that would help many families.
