Rep. Geraldo Alicea Honored as Freshman Legislator of the Year at Massachusetts Nurses Association Awards Banquet

Representative Geraldo Alicea (D-Charlton) was recently honored by the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) as their Freshman Legislator of the Year. Representative Alicea was chosen for his special commitment to the needs of the 23,000+ members of the MNA, the largest and most powerful professional health care association and the largest union of registered nurses in Massachusetts.

“It was a great honored to be recognized by the MNA,” stated Alicea. “The MNA does an excellent job of representing the needs of thousands of health care workers across the sate and I look forward to a continued positive relationship working with the organization.”

The award, called the Special Recognition for Legislative Advocacy, honors the dedication of Alicea in his first years to the important legislation supported by the MNA. This includes An Act Relative to Patient Safety, more commonly known as the Safe Staffing bill, which would mandate better patient care throughout Massachusetts’s acute care hospitals. The award was presented at the Massachusetts’s Nurses Association Annual Awards Banquet held in Springfield.
