Southbridge Airport Commission receive grants from the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission

The Southbridge Municipal Airport has been awarded more than $324,000 in state and federal funding grants for the construction of T-hangars and associated taxi-lanes by the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission, according to Sen. Richard T. Moore, D-Uxbridge and Rep. Geraldo Alicea, D-Charlton.

“Southbridge Airport Commission officials should be commended for their efforts in keeping their airport among the most efficient in the state,” said Moore. “Through these grants they can continue their work in maintaining the safety for all those who will utilize the airport.”

These grants will be used to construct a T-Hangar building in the terminal area of the Airport. The project includes design and construction of a six-unit nested T-hangar building and associated taxilanes.

“These grants are an important next step to continuing to maintain a safe environment at the Southbridge Municipal Airport, as well as allowing the airport to construct a much needed expansion to the facilities,” stated Alicea.
